OVERVIEW View Conference Agenda

The 4th Annual One Public Sector Scotland 2017 conference takes excellence in public services as its core theme and focuses on three areas: Strategic Aims and Drivers, Public Services Partnership and Collaboration and Innovation for Excellence.

Led in the previous three years by John Swinney MSP, Deputy First Minister, Scottish Government, the 2017 conference will again feature a range of senior speakers immersed in public service excellence. It will facilitate networking between all parts of the Scottish public sector to enable the sharing of best practice and innovation across service delivery areas and will see delegates from the public, private and third sectors.

The One Public Sector Scotland 2017 conference takes place in the context of both great change and huge consistency. Great change as new powers come to the Scottish Parliament while the UK starts to negotiate exit from the European Union. Huge consistency as the demand for more and better public services continues to grow. All of this in the context of public expenditure constraint.

Against this backdrop innovation is expected to provide the gearing between the contradictions of doing more with less - and delivering excellence in the process.

The conference will examine the opportunities for the public sector to innovate and to harness and share excellence. Specific themes to be discussed include:

  • Delivering Empowered Public Services and Agencies
  • New Powers for Scotland - New Life for Public Services?
  • Making the Public Finances Add Up
  • Citizens and Services: Collaborating with the Consumer
  • Digital and Data: Fast, Flexible and Fit for Purpose
  • The Public Estate and Asset Base: Hidden Treasure?
  • Public Sector Leadership
  • Is Change Permanent: How Do We Embrace It?
  • Revenue Generation for the Public Sector
  • The Shape of Public Service in the 2020s

This conference is an outstanding opportunity for everyone interested in Scotland delivering world class public services. Join Scotland’s public sector and its partners in discussing how we shape and deliver excellence in Scottish public services.
