OVERVIEW View Conference Agenda

The 9th annual Scottish rail conference will focus on three key themes: the strategic picture for investment and renewal, partnership and delivery in Scottish rail and the broader challenges and opportunities for Scottish rail.

The advent of a new Scottish Government with a five year term opens the prospect for discussion of rail's place in the broader commitment to substantial transport and infrastructure spending. The industry also has a new face for its Scottish Government partner with the appointment of Humsa Yousaf MSP as Minister for Transport.

The conference will feature key industry voices and provides the annual focal point for the Scottish rail industry in considering Network Rail project plans, Scottish Government policy and planning, delivery of the rail capital programme ahead, new approaches to service delivery and the broader context in which rail operates.

Among the subjects to be discussed at this year's conference will be:

  • Leading the Industry
  • Transforming Reliability and Quality
  • Alliance and Partnership in Project Delivery
  • Moving to Smart Rail: Smart Systems, Cities and Passengers
  • Future Proofing Rail Development
  • Broader Challenges and Opportunities for Scottish Rail
  • HS2 and Northern Powerhouse - The Latest Picture
  • The Economy, Brexit and Finance
  • Transport Competition and Demand
