2020 sees the 12th Annual Conference and Award for Executive Secretaries in Scotland (ACES): Awarding and Celebrating Excellence in Scotland, taking place on 24th January 2020.

ACES is the original and longest running conference and awards ceremony for PAs, EAs, Office Managers and office support professionals in Scotland.  It's a conference, exhibition and annual award, providing a one-stop-shop for learning, development, knowledge sharing and networking.

The focus of this year's event is all about the next decade - how will cloud based applications affect you?  Are you comfortable with cloud based applications?  What are the pros and cons?  How can you make the cloud work for you?

For 2020 we are delighted to be partnering with Kimpton Charlotte Square, Edinburgh, the first Kimpton branded hotel in Scotland.

ACES 2020 provides the opportunity to learn or refresh skills and personal development in:

  • Cloud based Microsoft Apps vs computer based programs
  • Effective time management
  • Understanding conflict management
  • Developing your creative thinking
  • Networking - on the day with your peers and afterwards with your enhanced skills

And of course all delegates participate in the live vote to choose the 12th Annual Scottish PA of the Year!

We always listen carefully to the feedback that PAs give at each year's conference and awards and, as always, the desire for practical training was high on most of the feedback forms.  This year's conference will focus on how to work smarter with core tools such as Office 365 which allows you to work anywhere...but how can you make this work best for you?  Conflict Management and Time Management also featured high on the feedback - as did the networking opportunities - and these will again be part of the day's programme.

At the conclusion of the day's event, delegates will - as always - take part in a live vote to choose the winner of the 12th Annual Scottish PA of the Year Award.  Nominations will open later this year.

The judges this year are Joan Serafini, Managing Director of Equator Events and Public Affairs and former Private Secretary to past First Ministers, Henry McLeish and Jack McConnell, Gail Welsh and Gail Hannah, Director of MacKay Hannah.

I can't wait until next year so I can come back, what a wonderful conference. I left Edinburgh zoo buzzing, what a wonderful way to start the weekend.
