When the Scottish Civil Courts Review was published on 30th September 2009, Lord Gill said that without dramatic reforms, the reputation of Scots law would continue to diminish along with public confidence in the judiciary.
Lord Gill, the lord justice clerk, said the system was outdated, expensive, unpredictable and inefficient - and that it was failing society and putting economic development at risk. He identified three areas that his report would address - namely access to law, delay and inefficiency.
This conference will look at the proposed changes to Scotland's legal system and the impact this will have on the Scottish judiciary system.
