Strategies to tackle bullying continue to have a high priority with politicians and practitioners working with young people in Scotland.
Recent focus has been on effective response and prevention strategies to try and ensure that a consistent approach is taken at all levels and in all communities across Scotland.
Whilst research published last year indicates that Scottish school children’s behaviour has been improving there is a strong desire to build upon successful strategies and campaigns.
In Scotland’s schools, Restorative Practices have helped address incidents of harm and restore good relationships when there has been conflict. Restorative Practices is also a means of developing an ethos, policies and practices that minimise the possibility of conflict arising.
This one day conference follows on from several regional MacKay Hannah events held in 2007/08 and will examine current thinking on bullying and conflict in schools. It will look at successful Restorative Practices initiatives in Scottish schools and offer participants the opportunity to look at developing strategies in their own classrooms.
