Scottish Tourism: Going for Growth
Tuesday 29th January 2008
Apex International Hotel, Edinburgh
Keynote Speaker: Jim Mather MSP, Minister for Enterprise, Energy and Tourism
Sponsored by: Edinburgh Bus Tours
Tourism is vital to the Scottish economy. The industry employs around 200,000 people and earns £4.1 billion in revenue for Scotland every year. It is a key economic driver and Scottish Government Ministers have set a target to increase revenue by an additional 50% by 2015.
The challenge for all stakeholders is immense. As well as the need for investment to stimulate growth, future industry development has to ensure a balance between environmental, economic and social factors - sustainability must be integral to successful growth.
So what needs to happen next, what is your role, what are the roadblocks, where will growth come from and what are the opportunities which we must not miss?
This one day conference will consider how all those involved in tourism - public and private sector, small and large business, agency bodies, local government and individuals can help deliver the ambitious 50% growth target by 2015.
This is a great opportunity to participate with leading agencies, policy makers and the Minister, in a discussion on what everyone from bed and breakfast operators up to government Ministers need to do to promote the success of our tourism sector.
