- Executive Secretaries and PAs in Scotland 2nd Annual Conference and Award

Awarding and Celebrating Excellence in Scotland 2009

ACES 2009

The 2nd Annual Conference and Award for Executive Secretaries and PAs in Scotland took place on Friday 12th of June 2009 in the Glasgow Hilton, William Street.

Now in its second year, the event was a great success and was attended by almost 150 office professionals from across Scotland.  Here are a few testimonials from delegates:

"Thank you so much for everything.  The ACES conference is superb.  Networking, learning and having fun is all part and parcel of the day - great stuff.  I will be promoting this event at every opportunity."  Gail Mair, Aberdeen City Council and winner of PA of the Year Award 2009

"Thank you so much for an outstanding conference.  I've attended many such events but never one which was all about us, totally taking on board all that our roles entail.  The mix of the day was superb."  Barbara, Margaret Blackwood Housing Association

"Excellent speakers with varied topics.  I particulary enjoyed the motivational presentation."  Julie, NHS Dumfries & Galloway

"A really educational day.  The topics covered will be useful for my personal development and Joan Serafini was an excellent speaker.  Very easy to relate to."  Sarah, Hymans Robertson

"An excellent day!!  This is a great opportunity to network with lots of different people."  Anne, Forth Estuary Transport Authority

"A brilliant mix of speakers."  Elaine, GAP Group Ltd

"I could have listened to Carmen MacDougall from NLP for hours.  Excellent!!     L McPherson, Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service

"I loved it.  Thank-you!"  Sharron, Accountant in Bankruptcy

The conference ended with the award for PA of the Year 2009 being presented to Gail Mair from Aberdeen City Council.  Well done to Gail who walked away with her award, sponsored this year by Xerox, a weekend break for two at a Scottish Hilton Hotel, a magnum of champagne, a handbag and accessories from new Scottish designer Zizi MacKay and fresh flowers delivered to her desk monthly for a year courtesy of MacKay Hannah.

Competition was fierce this year with a record number of nominations.  It's impossible to list all nominations, much as we'd love to mention you all but here's who made it on to the shortlist:

Gail Mair, Aberdeen City Council

Lorna McDermott, Scottish Borders Council

Elaine Russell, GAP Group Ltd
