The Challenges for Local Government in Scotland
12th Apr 2018
The Accounts Commission last week published this year’s report, prepared by Audit Scotland, on Local Government in Scotland. It looks at the wider challenges and issues facing councils and how they are dealing with delivering services with continually reducing budgets. The report states that implementing successful transformation has had mixed result across Scotland’s 32 councils. The report references Brexit and the significant impact that is going to have on Scottish councils. The details of the impact of the Scottish Government's review of education and of local governance are not yet known. The difficulties uncertainties and pressure bring to councils mean that forward planning is critical and difficult decisions will have to continue to be made.

I was drawn to this conference as I am a training manager and like to gain any information to pass to workers. All of the speakers were very good and held my attention well.
